Home For The Holidays - The Spitfire Band

Hello, out there... Hi-Fi Holidays is back! After taking the 2017 Christmas season off (my wife and I welcomed out first child, a daughter just before Christmas), I'm excited to reopen this blog with a new album. And why not do it with a Canadian release, Home For The Holidays by The Spitfire Band. This is a short, but sweet, big band-style album performed to the hilt.

Dialing up Wikipedia, you'll learn that The Spitfire Band formed in 1981, and was a comprised mainly of Canadian session musicians. Of their handful of albums released on the Canadian division of RCA Records, one was this Christmas album made of just four swinging tracks. Not really the usual vintage of music I post here, there might be something here that helps Grandma get up and boogie.

I managed to track down a sealed copy (which would explain the atrocious scans - sorry), so this was a case where an album I've chosen to post didn't require a more than one trip through the Spin-Clean.

  6. If you take requests...any chance of Ferrante & Teicher's "Xmas Hi-Fivories"?

    1. Sorry, I don't have HI-FIVORIES, but I do have WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS, on Mistletoe. It's also 8 tracks. I think though this is a fairly common album.
