Firestone Presents... Vol. 6 - Various
Okay, another album before Christmas... It's that time of the year... Wait, didn't Jack Jones sing that on Firestone's Your Favorite Christmas Carols? He did, and that's the latest album on the blog.
It's like Circus of The Stars: Jack Jones, the Vienna Choir Boys, and Roberta Peters all perform a mix of new, old and non-secular tunes arranged and conducted by Irwin Kostal.
The highlight is Jones' perf of "This Is That Time of The Year", so good it's lauded on the cover. This one could stand shoulder to shoulder quite nicely with Andy Williams' "It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year" and Perry Como's "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas". Also new to this compilation is the sprightly "Dance of The Christmas Doll" by Edward Thomas.
This may have been budget-priced when it was originally released, but the years have turned Firestone Vol. 6 into Christmas gold!
Please enjoy: Firestone Presents Your Favorite Christmas Music (Vol.6)

Cool! I love the Firestone Series. I have Vols. 1-6 and only recently learned that the album labels came in both red and green Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHi. Just found this during my quest to archive my collection of Firestone Christmas for the upcoming holidays. Thanks for sharing. Also thanks for giving me an excellent benchmark to pursue. Sounds great!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I used to have a couple of these Firestone Series LPs. I must have sold them with the rest of my big collection back in the mid 80's. Thanks for this one.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteWould you happen to know who has a zip file for the Firestone Series Volume 7 with Leontyne Price? Very appreciated and Merry Christmas! :D
I have such fond memories of these. Thanks for putting this one up. Do you have vol. 5 also, by any chance?
ReplyDeleteI grew up with these albums. Growing up we always identified them by the color. "Play the blue one" and "I want the green one". Thank you, thank you for posting this one.
ReplyDeleteI have all 7 Volumes now share din my new location. However, thanks to an attack Troll I've had to make it by Membership Approval Only. Here's the link if Ryan doesn't mind (if so then by all means delete):

Ahhh, mostlyghostlymusic is gone too.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of a repost? Great stuff - thanks.
Wow, I had no idea the link was gone. It either was inactive, or was deleted by one of those sites that try to sell these LP recordings! I'll re-upload.
ReplyDeleteThank You for this post !!
ReplyDelete"This is That Time of the Year" is probably one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time. Very underrated as a catchy sweet holiday tune the likes of which they don't make anymore or at least don't play on the radio. Thank you for this. My Firestone LP's still work but it would be nice to have them elsewhere to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteYou have made my Mother a very happy women! She grew up with the Firestone Christmas records and sent me on a web quest to find "This is that time of the Year" so she could have it again. When I found this blog and downloaded the whole record for her, she was just thrilled! Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteA Christmas gift to you!

Merry Christmas!
Aw, bummer! I got all excited to find the one holiday song I never hear anywhere except in my head (This is that Time of the Year), and it says "File not found" when I try to download it. Can you help!? Thanks a million! :-)
ReplyDeleteIs this link going to be reposted?
ReplyDeleteSure wish I could get "This is that Time of the Year"
ReplyDeleteOh, but you can, Chip :)
DeleteIt is an ever ending search for the other volumes of Firestone Presents. Anyone have a clue where I can find them. I will pay to download as long as the copies are clean and reasonably priced.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about re-posting your older material? So many (especially children's albums) links have gone dead.
